Get your calender out parents and children because Halloween in Vermilion Parish is getting confusing. The rest of the United States will be celebrating Halloween on Oct. 31, which is a Friday. But in Vermilion Parish, you will have two days to celebrate Halloween.
Vermilion Parish has five schools that had a school performance grade of A. Three of the five schools were elementary schools, and the other two were high schools. Two A schools improved from being a B school last year. Cecil Picard Elementary had one of the biggest leap in scores from last year.
If you see a few ghosts around Abbeville, don’t be scared. The “Ghosts on the Bayou” are friendly. Abbeville Main Street, along with the Abbeville Library and the Vermilion Tourist Commission, placed 20 ghosts at various spots around the downtown area.

Erath ends boil advisory for water

The Louisiana Board of Health informed the town of Erath at 11 a.m. Thursday that its last water sample passed, ending the five-day boil advisory.

Organizers thank public for successful Cattle Festival

Families gathering along the parade route were part of what made this weekend’s Cattle Festival a success.

The 66th Louisiana Cattle Festival has come and gone, leaving behind what organizers call a memorable weekend.
