Jonathan Touchet does not feel like a life saver, something with which Michael Brewer would disagree. What matters most is that both men were able to arrive for their shifts with the Abbeville Police Department Monday evening thanks to what happened prior to last Thursday’s shift change.

Monday night may have been the first official Blue Mass in Vermilion Parish. The Mass honored six officers who have fallen in the line of duty in Vermilion Parish. The Blue Mass was held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville. The Mass honored law enforcement, fire safety and EMS personnel.

One Vermilion Parish School Board member is already worried about the 2014-15 budget, three months into the fiscal year. What makes School Board member Anthony Fontana worry even more is that the government is not going to approve funding to help pay for the second phase of rewiring eight schools.
