Organizers of the Giant Omelette Celebration are celebrating the event’s 30th year. Three involved with the group are celebrating their own milestones this year. Mickey Atchetee, Darrel Comb and Brenda Comeaux Trahan have risen to the rank of chevalier, the chefs who help prepare the 5,000 egg omelette.
All Saints Day is this Saturday and St. Mary Magdalen Parish releases its cemetery schedule.  During this annual commemoration, cemeteries are blessed in order to remember those who have gone on before us in death.  This year the schedule for the blessing of cemeteries is as follows:

Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars will perform Saturday at noon.

The Giant Omelette Celebration turns 30 years old this year and because of that, the person who is in charge of landing the music entertainment for the Celebration got the green light to try and get good musical entertainment.

Faith House hands out ‘Kisses for Cops’

Meeting about Common Core in Abbeville on Tuesday

There will be a town hall meeting Tuesday to talk about Common Core.
The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at Magdalen Place, downtown Abbeville.

Abbeville inducted into state Babe Ruth Hall of Fame

Babe Ruth State Commissioner Mike Markins presents Hall of Fame induction plaque to Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza. Taking part in the ceremony is Councilman Brady Brsoussard Jr., who is representing his father, former Mayor Brady Broussard Sr., Babe Ruth Southwest Regional Commissioner Joe Cormier and Gene Sellers, who helped bring the first World Series to Abbeville in 1974.

Abbeville has long been known as a baseball town.
That is because of Abbeville’s history with Babe Ruth Baseball, which dates back to the 1950s.
