Parents in school districts across Louisiana are opting their children out of the PARCC test, the test associated with Common Core standards. Vermilion Parish is no exception. As of Friday, a total of 15 students in Vermilion Parish have signed a waiver to opt out of taking the PARCC test.

The Lady Eagles of VC are heading back to the Sweet 16 after knocking off St. Mary 41-30 Saturday afternoon. VC will play Tuesday night at 7:45 against White Castle in the semifinal game. The games are being held at McNeese University in Lake Charles.

Another bicyclist killed in Lafayette

Lafayette Police are investigating the death of a Lafayette bicyclist. 57 year old James McCarthy Jr. of Lafayette was killed when the bicycle he was riding collided with a truck.
