Blue, Gold and Prisoner of War markers will be on display

The Abbeville Garden Club will be placing Blue Star Memorial Markers at three different locations on Monday. The ceremonies will be held at three different locations in Abbeville, from 10 a.m. to noon. At 9 a.m. there will be a special ceremony at Graceland Cemetery to unveil a prisoner of war marker (near the American Flag).

Prior to this year, Abbeville won the State Cleanest City Contest twice, once in 1986 and again in 2012. The city captured its third title this year and a ceremony held Friday morning to present the award proved that the third time is the charm.

Construction continues Friday morning on the new Dairy Queen. The restaurant is located on the Bypass, near Lowe’s.

Abbeville will soon have a few more options for those who want a quick bite to eat. Dairy Queen, Papa John’s Pizza and Hardee’s are currently under construction and will be opening in the coming weeks and months. For some citizens, these developments represent more than just three new places to eat.
