KAPLAN - Kade Abshire could have been sentenced to 30 years in prison for vehicular homicide, but because it was his best friend he killed in a truck accident two years ago, Abshire will not be going to jail.

ERATH - Since the death of Erath High School teacher Amy Brown Noel, her classroom door has been closed, and there is a good chance it will remain closed the rest of the school year.

One person is in an Abbeville hospital following a shooting in broad daylight.

The incident took place Tuesday around 1 p.m. at the corner of Oak and Hayes Streets.
