Abbeville is back on top of the “Clean City” mountain. Abbeville won its district title in the Louisiana Garden Club Federation’s Cleanest City contest. Officials notified Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza Monday afternoon. Judging took place this past Friday morning.

The Kaplan Lady Pirates - the 2016 Class 3A state champions

SULPHUR - The Kaplan Lady Pirates won the Class 3A state title in impressive fashion. The No. 4 seed Lady Pirates (25-6) shut out the No. 15 seed Lutcher Bulldogs 4-0 early Sunday morning. The game started at 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 and ended at 1 a.m on Sunday, May 1.

Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza joins the Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville Chapter during their general chapter meeting on April 5 to present and read an official proclamation honoring April 03-06 as National Junior Auxiliary Week. Mayor Piazza thanked the chapter for their leadership, dedication and service to the community over the years. Mayor Piazza has been a supporter of JA of Abbeville since his installation as and the chapter is immensely grateful for his friendship. Members showcased their JA pride by wearing their chapter color, blue, and signifying their JA Week theme “Let BLUE Reign”.

Jade Paul Menard, 25, died on April 25, 2016 in the city of Youngsville, La. His memorial was held at 10708 Highway 697, Abbeville, LA on April 29, 2016.
