BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal filed suit in federal court arguing President Obama’s U.S. Department of Education has violated the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and federal law by coercing states to adopt Common Core standards and assessments.

Connie LeGrand, 49, won’t be getting behind the wheel of a vehicle intoxicated for a few years. Judge Durwood Conque sentenced LeGrand to 15 years in prison with no chance of parole after she was arrested two years ago for driving drunk. She received her seventh DWI ticket in Louisiana.

Maurice man arrested on multiple charges

MAURICE — Officers with the Village of Maurice Police Department arrested a local man last Saturday in connection to a hit-and-run after a friend allegedly turned him in.

Chevy SUV runs into back of tractor on Hwy 167 south of Maurice

The driver of the SUV hit the back of the fertilizer trailer being pulled by a Ford tractor. The driver of the tractor was not seriously injured.

A driver of a Chevy SUV ran into the back of a Ford tractor pulling a fertilizer tank traveling south on La. 167, in between Maurice and Abbeville.

Film and Visitors commission to have mural painted on Abbeville City Hall

The mural will be painted in the middle of the building on the west side of the Abbeville City Hall.

The Abbeville Film and Visitors Commission has funded a number of projects in the city during the past few years.
That includes providing wireless Internet access to Magdalen Square.
