Maurice police arrest southern reality star

Lyle Boudreaux

MAURICE — Village of Police officers arrested a Lafayette man who appeared on the reality show “Party Down South.”
Maurice Police Chief Warren Rost said his officers arrested Lyle Boudreaux, 28, Saturday night after he allegedly broke into a car and stole a wallet and a credit card. Rost said the car was parked at a local bar.
“There were some people who drove up and saw some trash on the side of the vehicle,” Rost said. “They recognized the name on some of the trash. The people knew the who owned the car. They went inside and told her she dropped some items by her car.
“She went outside and noticed some stuff was missing from her purse.”
Officers arrived and were able to access security footage of the parking lot. Rost said that footage included the suspect.
“They could see the suspect, not real close, but they could see what he was wearing,” Rost said. “It shows him opening the door of the car, going through the purse and then taking the wallet with the credit card in it.”
“It also shows him walking to another bar.”
Rost said Boudreaux is believed to have attempted to use the credit card to open a bar tab at the second establishment. Officers arrived at the second bar at which point the bartender pointed out that Boudreaux tried to use the card.
“Officers questioned him and he denied it,” Rost said. “Someone there said they saw Boudreaux throw something on the roof.
“We got someone up on the roof and retrieved the wallet.”
Officers arrested Boudreaux and charged him with simple burglary. He bonded out of the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on $10,000 bail.
Boudreaux first gained notoriety as one of eight cast members of the CMT reality show “Party Down South.” The show, which is filmed in South Carolina, premiered on Jan. 19. Boudreaux is one of four cast members from Louisiana.
Rost said none of Boudreaux’s T.V. background came out until well after the arrest. The incident has gained some national attention.
“TMZ actually called me already,” Rost said of the celebrity news website.
