Keep Abbeville Beautiful presents its Civic Pride Award for April to the home of Trina and Clyde Broussard. The program is designed to recognize landscape projects that promote beautification and pride in our community. LOUISIANA FLAG DONATION - The Abbeville Country recently received  a Louisiana flag donated by Woodmen of the World Lodge 714 in Maurice. Donating the flag to the club was Woodmen agent Scott Menard (left, yellow shirt). The organizations, who have their meetings at the Country Club,   will be able to use the flag. Representing the organizations are (left to right) Bertha Mire, who is president of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce,  Lance Savoie, representing the Abbeville Rotary Club, and Anita Chiasson, representing the Abbeville Kiwanis Club.

AMERICAN LEGION AWARD -- Francis Plaisance received the “Citizen of the Year” award from American Legion Vermilion Post 29 Wednesday in Abbeville. Shown are, from left, Gerald Gaspard, Willie Hymel, Francis Plaisance, Gloria Callahan, and Marian Davidson. Post Judge Advocate Thomas Thompson made the presentation during a Birthday Banquet celebrating the founding of American Legion in 1919.

The Abbeville Rotary Club purchased this 4H hog at the recent Vermilion Parish Junior Livestock Show. The hog was raised by Katherine Trahan, daughter of Blaine and Stacy Trahan of Abbeville. All of the meat will be made into pork sausage and donated to the Christian Service Center in Abbeville. Rotarians pictured with Katherine are Mark Shirley, Riley Landry and Charles Dill.
