The Kaplan Pirates have struggled a bit this season, but with district on the horizon, a win heading into their in-parish game against Abbeville wouldn’t be a bad thing.

To get that win, the Pirates (1-2) will have to overcome a road match-up against West St. Mary (0-3) tonight.

West St. Mary has struggled so far this season, remaining winless against Franklin, Northwest and, most recently, a 60-26 loss to Ellender. The Wolf Pack is looking just as hard to bounce back as Kaplan is.

One of head coach Stephen Lotief’s maxims for this season has been consistency. Working with the Pirates to improve on that has been a lot of work, but it could very well pay off in tonight’s game.

The team is recovering from a 26-0 loss to St. Martinville last week. It was a game where they couldn’t seem to get much momentum before all-star players for St. Martinville put a stop to their drive.

It’s a whole new week for Kaplan, however, who are “working to improve ourselves,” according to Lotief. The game is at 7 p.m.
