According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Criminal Investigations Division is diligently working to identify the person or persons responsible for at least seven (7) daytime burglaries which occurred in the North Vermilion / Meaux areas of Vermilion Parish over the last couple of weeks.

Sheriff Couvillon says it appears that the Burglaries are taking place between the early morning hours and early afternoon when the victims were away from home.

Sheriff Couvillon says that detectives have canvassed the areas that were victimized and are working closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies that are experiencing daytime residential burglaries with similarities, however at this time there are no apparent leads.

Sheriff Couvillon says that our goal as a Sheriff’s Office is to keep our residents abreast of crimes within our parish; however there are certain situations when too much information may hamper these types of investigations.

Finally, Sheriff Couvillon says that additional patrol in these areas have been implemented and ask that if anyone sees anything that appears out of the ordinary to please call the Sheriff’s Office immediately at 898-4402 or 898-4403.

If anyone has any information with regards to these burglaries you are urged to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403.
