VC head coach Danny McMurtry said that, all things considered, the tournament was a success.
“We pitched very well,” said McMurtry. “Offensively, we swang the bats well. One through nine did a good job of getting the ball in play and putting pressure on other teams.”
McMurtry said the weekend slate exposed some areas the Eagles need to address.
“Our Achilles heel all weekend was our defense,” he said. “We didn’t play that well defensively. That was the one area that we didn’t shine in... But, it’s the first action of the season and we were giving guys an opportunity to play prior to settling down into a lineup.
