James "Farrel" LeBoeuf

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan honoring the life of James "Farrel" LeBoeuf, 72, who died Sunday, March 10, 2024. He will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Deacon Bryan Istre officiating the services. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Derek LeBoeuf, Cullen LeBoeuf, Kyle LeBouef, Treylon LeBoeuf, Danny LeBoeuf, Caleb LeBoeuf and Stephen Lizin.
Farrel LeBoeuf was a hard-working athlete, a dedicated employee, a proud son, father, grandfather, and husband. He was a Cajun that loved shared meals and hugged his mom every chance he could.
Farrel grew up in Kaplan, Louisiana. He was a stellar running back and track athlete in high school. His acrobatics on the football field earned him the nickname of “The Flying Frenchman” for the Kaplan Pirates. He graduated from Kaplan High School with a full scholarship to play football for the University of Houston. Though after a year in Texas, he missed family and friends, wanted to come back to his roots, and chose to leave Houston to attend USL. He played for the USL Ragin Cajuns and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. Afterwards, he returned to Houston, working for Brown and Root and met his wife-to-be, Robin. Farrel and Robin settled down in Kaplan. They raised their two sons, Derek and Cullen, just a bike ride from his mom and dad, his brothers, and their families. His sons are grateful for this.
Farrel always had a passion for running. He ran as a young man, and then during his sons’ formative years ran 5ks, triathlons, and marathons. He loved his running buddies and loved the jambalaya and beer after races. He had a passion for never stopping. Eventually this led him and Robin to start a timing business in the early nineties, called Cajun Timing. We suspect he wanted everything to be Cajun, a heritage that he was so fondly proud of. He loved his company, his timing team, and his running community. He valued preparation and accuracy. He valued connections. The team always shared a meal after races, usually at a locally owned restaurant or historic diner.
Professionally he worked at Bilfinger as a Project Manager for 30 years exactly this March, and he loved every hectic minute of it. He loved his job, and his coworkers. Everyone he met or did business with became a friend. Farrel was very social. Anyone that knew him knows that having get togethers, cooking, talking, and playing cards brought him much joy.
He cooked breakfast for his sons and wife nearly every day through their K-12th grade school years. He also cooked for his family every Sunday that he could and loved every minute of it. Shared meals excited the Cajun in him, and he often planned next Sunday’s menu while cooking and eating that day. It drove his wife crazy. He loved his three grandchildren and his great grandchild with a full heart. To them he was known as “Gramps.” He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him their own.
Lastly- Farrel was an organ donor, and lieu of flowers please offer a donation to LOPA or treat yourself to a bottle of wine and stuffed chicken from Hebert’s and share a meal with loved ones in his honor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Robin LeBoeuf; two sons, Derek LeBoeuf and his wife, Casey of Kaplan, and Cullen LeBoeuf of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Sue Courrege and her husband, Gary of Lake Charles; one brother, Danny LeBoeuf and his wife, Sarah of Kaplan; three grandchildren, Kali, Lillie, and Dylan; one great-grandchild, Emilla; and numerous nieces and nephews that he embraced with his whole heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred LeBoeuf and the former Lola Landry; and one brother, Arlon LeBouef.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 8 a.m. until the services begin at 11 a.m.
