Roland Bouillion

Roland Joseph Bouillion, a devoted husband, loving father, and skilled builder contractor, left this world on November 1, 2023, at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully in his home in Abbeville, Louisiana. Roland was born on November 3, 1935, to his parents, Octave Bouillion and Lily Richard Bouillion, and he was one of six siblings.
Throughout his remarkable life, Roland dedicated his talents and skills to the construction industry, working as a building contractor and carpenter. He left an indelible mark on his community by constructing over 100 homes from the ground up. The last house he built was a testament to his love and dedication, as he built it for his cherished daughter. Roland was not only a master builder but also a true craftsman.
Roland found immense joy in the outdoors, tending to his bountiful vegetable garden, which flourished under his caring hands. His garden was a source of pride and nourishment, and it was a testament to his nurturing spirit. He also had a passion for fishing and hunting, especially when it came to sharing these experiences with his grandson, creating cherished memories during their goose hunting adventures.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Vernelle Pedigo Bouillion, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. He is also survived by his daughters, Laurie B. Fitch and her husband, Anthony, and Debbie B. Lachaussee and her husband, Keith. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Vivian B. Blake and her husband, Steve, and Belinda B. Lasalle and her husband, Allen.
Roland's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Lacy Lortz and Colby Niclos Fitch, and his great-grandsons, Logan and Jackson Lortz. His dedication to family and the love he shared will be a lasting memory in their hearts.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Lily Bouillion, a brother, Curless "Curtis" Bouillion, and sisters, Clarisse "Sue" Brown and Judith "Judy" Theall. He also joins his in-laws, Elbert Eugene and Laura Mazie Hoffpauir Pedigo, in eternal rest.
A funeral service to honor Roland's life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre. The service will be officiated by Rev. Mary Rachael Moore, who will guide us in celebrating the life of a remarkable man. Following the service, Roland will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Earth, where he will find eternal peace.
Visitation hours will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, starting at 10:00 am and concluding just before the service begins.
Pallbearers for this final journey will be Patrick Blake, Steve Blake, Allen Lasalle, Jason Lasalle, Scotty Brown, and Michael Theriot, individuals who held a special place in Roland's heart.
In the embrace of loving memories, Roland Joseph Bouillion's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. His kindness, craftsmanship, and love for the outdoors will forever be cherished and celebrated. May he find eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the beauty of the world he helped create and the memories he leaves behind.
