Kaplan High begins search for new head football coach

Cory Brodie decides to step down after three years

KAPLAN — The search for a new head football coach at Kaplan High School is underway because head football coach Cory Brodie stepped down as the head football coach ealier this week.
On Tuesday, the PE/coaching position became open at Kaplan High School.
Superintendent Tommy Byler confirmed there is a job opening.
It will be open next week, and by the start of the 2024, interviews will take place, and a new football coach is expected to be named.
The Meridional contacted former Kaplan head coach Cory Brodie for comment about not returning to Kaplan High School. As of press time on Wednesday, the Meridional has yet to reach Coach Cory.
Kaplan High Principal Shay Herpin said Coach Brodie made the decision to step down.
Brodie has only been the head coach at Kaplan for three years. He had his best year this past season, guiding the Pirates to a 7-3 record. The Pirates never got blown out this past year. Their three losses were by a total of 11 points.
Kaplan went 15-17 overall in three years with two playoff appearances.
Before going to Kaplan, Brodie was the head basketball coach and defensive coordinator at Vermilion Catholic.
His father, Craig, was a coach Cory’s entire life. He helped Carencro win a state title in 1992 before returning to Catholic High of New Iberia to help the Panthers win one for the first time since 1962.
His uncle is Brent Indest is a long-time head coach at Abbeville, Crowley, Carencro, Kaplan, and Catholic High.
