Abbeville General will receive COVID vaccines Wednesday

Last week, Gov. John Bel Edwards said nearly 40,000 COVID-19 vaccines may be distributed to healthcare workers in Louisiana within the first week of the FDA approving their use.
On Wednesday, Abbeville General announced it will be getting the vaccine and will be distributing the
vaccine to frontline workers first.
Last week, Edwards was among four governors the Trump administration invited to Washington, D.C., to discuss vaccine distribution plans given the quality of those plans.

Vermilion Parish School System will use new quarantine guidelines

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, close contact to someone who is positive required a 14-day quarantine.
Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) made changes to the guidance for quarantines. People who may have been exposed to COVID-19 will be able to shorten their quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days, or as few as seven days with a negative test.

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) today adopted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recently updated guidance that allows people who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to shorten their quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days, or as few as 7 days with a negative test.
