The Vermilion Parish Sheriff Office sent out an advisory educating the public that certain Abbeville streets on Tuesday will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. because Gov. Jeff Landry will be in Abbeville to announce that SpaceX is locating in Vermilion Parish

CHICAGO — In its 41st year celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade on Thursday announced Emma Smith of Delcambre High School is the 2025-26 Gatorade Louisiana Girls Track and Field Player of the Year.

Abbeville Councilman shares concerns about return on turf investments at A.A. Comeaux

In 2022, the city of Abbeville added turf to the infields at A.A. Comeaux Park to enhance the facilities and become more competitive in attracting tournaments.
The city utilized $3 million in revenue bonds to fund the project. During the Abbeville City Council meeting on Jan. 6, Councilman Francis Plaisance said he has some concerns about what return the city is receiving on that investment.

Erath High marching band wins state title

ERATH – A simple dare led Erath High band director Kenny Broussard and his band to a state title.
Before the band season kicked off, Broussard got a challenge from a college buddy who dared him to teach his band a fancy skit with an Italian twist.
During the show, the band played Italian songs and served pizza, meatballs, and spaghetti at an Italian restaurant setting.
The performance was titled “Bouon Appetitio,” which means “Enjoy Your Meal With Loved Ones.”
