Abbeville Mayor Roslyn White has been receiving complaints about parking around the courthouse in downtown for the past two months.
This week, she has decided to implement a new parking method called “pull-in” parking, starting Tuesday, to address the issue.
Previously, the old way of parking was known as reverse angle parking. On Monday, the courthouse was closed in observance of the President’s Day holiday, allowing Abbeville city workers to remove the white stripes used to guide motorists on how to reverse-angle park.

Abbeville Chief of Police Mike Hardy is reminding residents to secure ATVs properly.
Hardy made the reminder after Councilman Carlton Campbell brought up an issue during a recent Abbeville City Council meeting.
“I’m getting a lot of complaints about kids riding four-wheelers on the streets at 3 and 4 in the morning,” Campbell said during his commentary at the meeting on Nov. 21. “It’s creating a disturbance. They asked that you look at that for them.”
Hardy said he is well aware of the issue.
“It’s one of busiest things we have right now,” Hardy said.

This was certainly the case for the Vermilion Catholic Eagles, who displayed remarkable resilience despite having only 26 players available for their game on Friday night.
Although the Eagles (12-0) were down by 22 points late in the second quarter, they pulled off an impressive comeback 39-35 win against the No. 9 Ascension Catholic team.
The Eagles’ head coach, Broc Prejean, was at a loss to explain how his team managed to turn the game around.
