Meeting for seafood processers interested in Block Grant program Friday at LSU Ag Center in Abbeville

BATON ROUGE – Earlier this year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced its investment to support Louisiana seafood processing facilities and processing vessels, including at-sea processors or dealers, for expenses related to COVID-19.
The meeting is Friday morning (June 10) at the LSU Ag Center (1105 West Port Sttreet) in Abbeville. It will be from 10 a.m. until noon.

Second annual "Remembering the Fallen" ceremony on Memorial Day successful at Abbeville airport

Close to 100 people gathered at the second annual "Remembering the Fallen" ceremony on Memorial Day being held at the Louisiana Military Museum.
The ceremony took place in the new part of museum located at the Chris Crusta Airport.
The day began with the Anything Over Rice Cookoff and then a "Remembering the Fallen" ceremony" took place.
A wreath was placed on the replica of the Top of the Unknown Soldier that is on display in the military museum.
The keynote speaker was Andrew Ward, the president and founder of the Veterans Alliance.

Gun fire took place downtown Abbeville

The Abbeville Police were called to West Lafayette Street Friday morning around 11 after people heard gun fire.

The gun fire is determined to come from two vehicles who drove next to each other on West Lafayette Street, a block away from Magdalen Square.

Bullet casings were found by West Lafayette Street.

As of noon on Friday, the Abbeville Police were trying to figure out what types of vehicles were used in the gunfire.
