Abbeville man arrested after officers respond to ‘shots fired’ call

​On Jan. 12, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m. officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to a “Shots Fired” call around the 1700 block of Isreal Parker Dr.
The subsequent investigation resulted in investigators securing a search warrant for the residence of Tavis Briggs of Abbeville.​
The investigation led to the arrest of Tavis Briggs, who was booked at the Abbeville Police Department and transported to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. Briggs was booked on the following charges:
• Illegal Use of Weapons
• Obstruction of Justice
This incident is still under investigation, and more arrests are expected in this case. No further details regarding the investigation are being released at this time.
