Robert B. Vincent announces re-election bid for seat on Erath City Council

Robert B. Vincent issued the following statement in announcing that he will be a candidate for the Erath City Council in the upcoming election. The election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
“It is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for the Erath City Council. I want to serve as your independent voice on the city council. I have a deep love for Erath and a strong commitment to see that the Town of Erath has a bright future. The decisions we make today will affect our citizens for years to come. We have an obligation to make decisions that result in a secure future for our town, just like the generations that came before us.
I feel that my entire life has provided me with the experience, knowledge, strength, and determination to serve effectively as your councilman. I have had the honor of serving the people of Erath on the city council from 1999 to 2002 and 2015 to present. I also served as Prosecutor for the Town of Erath from 2011 to 2014.
I am a 1997 graduate of Erath High School. Upon graduation, I enrolled at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2004. I then received my Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2010, and was admitted to the practice of law that year. I have been practicing law in Erath since January 2011.
Erath is dear to my heart. I love this town and its people. I have always felt that it is my responsibility to give back to the community that has given me so much. I have had the honor of serving as the President of the Erath 4th of July Association since 2003. The Erath 4th of July Celebration began in 1936 and is a treasured event of our town. The Erath 4th of July Association has been able to accomplish so many good things in our community and our schools.
I proudly serve on the Board of Directors of the Acadian Museum of Erath; the Erath Community Building Association; and member of the Board of Commissioners of the Erath Housing Authority. I am also a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. These organizations strive to make our community the best it can be for all of its citizens.
In order to help student athletics of Erath, I joined the Erath Backers Club the year I graduated in 1997. I served as a member of the Board of Directors of that organization for 18 years. The Backers Club works tirelessly to provide every available opportunity for Erath students to succeed.
I have been blessed with many opportunities that have shaped my life – a strong family, a good education and a wonderful, supportive community. I have dedicated my life to service to this community. It is my desire to continue serving our town by providing effective and ethical leadership and sound financial stewardship.
I enjoy challenges and look forward to continuing to serve the people of Erath. Please allow me to serve as your independent voice on the city council. I humbly ask for your vote and your support as I begin this campaign.”
