
Two shot on Hawthorne Street in Abbeville after earlier altercation at local business
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 4:28 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to a call at 501 Veterans Memorial Drive (Popeye’s) for a complaint of customers fighting.
When officers arrived, they found Xavion Broussard and Anayla Williams in a verbal altercation. The manager requested that they all be removed, and both parties went their separate ways.
At 5:38 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to a call of a shooting on the 600 Block of Hawthorne Street. Police received video footage showing Broussard’s vehicle being followed to Hawthorne Street, where Broussard’s grandmother resided. Occupants of a Silver Malibu exited the vehicle to shoot at Xavion Broussard. Broussard returned fire, striking the driver and rear seat passenger. The vehicle left the scene and was located on the 1500 block of Graceland. Acadian Ambulance was called to that location. The two gunshot victims were transported to a local area hospital. This is still an ongoing investigation.
