Abbeville Police investigating Feb. 16 homicide

Detectives with the Abbeville Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday evening in the city.
On Feb. 16, at approximately 5:20 p.m. officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to a “Shots Fired” complaint on Green Street near its intersection with South Lamar Street.
Upon officers arriving on scene, the observed a male victim who suffered at least one apparent gunshot wound.

Abbeville seeing drop in water pressure, asking citizens to conserve

Below is a message from the City of Abbeville released Wednesday afternoon regarding the drop in water pressure”
As pipes begin to thaw, we are seeing a drop in water pressure and the City of Abbeville water supply is now dangerously low.
Temperatures are above freezing, and we need all citizens to STOP running your faucets.
We also ask that you PLEASE check for busted pipes. If your pipe is busted, you need to cut off water until it is repaired. If you do not know where that is call City Hall at 337-893-8550 and we will send someone out to do it for you.

Southeast Waterworks District No. 2 sends alert regarding critical water levels

Below is an alert sent by the Southeast Waterworks District No. 2 in Vermilion Parish on Wednesday:
“Our tank reserves have reached a critical point. It is imperative that all faucets be turned off now. We are only hours away from possibly having to issue a Boil Advisory should our tanks empty out. We ask for and appreciate your assistance.”
