The Louisiana Military Hall of Fame and Museum opened its doors in Abbeville more than six years ago with the goal of honoring those from the state who have served this country.
As the state’s budget has continued to tighten during the last year, local efforts are being made to ensure that the doors to the museum remain open.
GUEYDAN - Just like other places in Louisiana, Gueydan has a Mardi Gras kick-off celebration. Gueydan’s Mardi Gras Krewe de la Chambre Royale is gearing up for the Annual Mardi Gras Ball that is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017.
The Krewe will kick off the season with the annual Wine and Cheese Social held Saturday, January 7, 2017. The event will be held at the Gueydan Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend and meet Krewe de la Chambre Royale members and past Kings and Queens.
GUEYDAN - 2016 has been a challenging, fulfilling, painful and for some an amazing year. From the new born babies, voting for a new president to the record breaking flooding, folks from Gueydan have faced each challenge and survived.
January 7 - The Gueydan High School Honey Bears made school history by winning their first ever Yuletide Classic title.
January 14 - Captain Gary Broussard leads the way of the members of the Krewe du le Originals et Les Enfants Saturday, January 9 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
