In the late night of May 22, 2021 at 11:40 p.m., God called home His beloved daughter Marcy Marie Collins. God has taken her home; she has reached her final destination. Although she fought a good fight, her body could not keep up with her spirit.
Marcy M. Collins began her life on June 16, 1958 in Lafayette, LA to the proud parents of Jarious Jr. and Maudry Mingo, to which this union birthed six children. She was a proud graduate of Kaplan High School where she made fond memories. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life Harold Collins. They were united in holy matrimony on September 4, 1976. To that union, they bore two children: one girl and one boy. Marcy stood strong in the Lord as she knew him to be her healer and comforter. She was an active member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church and would often attend services at Shiloh Baptist Church and Mt Triumph Baptist Church with her beloved husband Harold. Marcy loved and lived for her children and grandchildren. She made sure they knew God; she would faithfully be on the weekly prayer call with her family. She was an active member of the Broken But Not Forgotten Ministry as she contributed her time, love, and support to all the women in the ministry. She faithfully participated in the cancer survivor walks and was an inspiration to other survivors. She received several awards honoring her steadfast and unmovable fight for cancer as she battled for 26 years. Her attractive smile and meek spirit attracted her to so many and everyone she met became a friend and was eventually called family. Marcy expressed her love to others through her baking and cooking. She spent countless hours sharing her favorite recipes and showing family/friends how to cook and bar-be-que. Her bananas cakes will be missed, not to mention her cabbage and the list goes on and on. Her favorite hobbies were spending time with family and attending bingo. She always said, “she was going to work.” Every time she won, she would give to her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, then tell them “Don’t tell their mom.” She was the epitome of the gift that kept on giving.” Marcy leaves to continue her legacy her loving husband of 43 years Harold: two children, Aisha Collins, Joshua Collins, and daughter-in-law Jill. Her grandchildren; Kaiden Jefferson, Hannah Jefferson, Madison Trahan, Mason Collins. One brother Jarvis Paul Mingo. Four Sisters; Dedra Donaldson, Pauletta Francis, Sandra Anderson, and Jewelene Mingo. Special nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; Jarious Mingo Jr. and Maudry Mingo; Grandparents Belton and Nellie Breaux; Two brothers-in-law; Ronald Donaldson and Floyd Francis.
