Haley Broussard

Vermilion Parish Awarded 2022 AITC Mini-Grant Award

Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that Haley Broussard a 2nd grade teacher at Dozier Elementary has been awarded the 2022 La. Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom mini-grant. The purpose of the grant program is to increase ag in the classroom involvement at the parish level by funding projects that will assist in developing and implementing planned AITC programs. Haley is currently providing agricultural lessons in her classroom and school garden and planning to expand those lessons with these funds.

Woman’s Club of Abbeville announces Scholarship Winner

The Woman’s Club Of Abbeville Scholarship was recently awarded to Miss Tiyuanna Baudoin. She and her mother Shalacy Baudoin, were invited to attend a club meeting where she received the award.
Tiyuanna is an honor student, Beta Club member and a cheerleader at Abbeville High. She has also been chosen Abbeville High School Student of the Year.
She plans to attend Southern University .

7th annual Gumbo for Meaux Elementary does it again, breaks records

“TEAM MEAUX did it again, and broke records.
The 7th Annual Gumbo for Meaux Elementary was recently held on Saturday, March 5, 2021 at The Red Barn in Abbeville.

Aubrey Vincent

Rene Rost’s Aubrey Vincent earns Parish Elementary Student of the Year honor

Fifth-grader Aubrey Vincent was chosen as the Vermilion Parish Elementary Student of the Year at Rene Rost Middle School.
Aubrey is in the theatre club and 4-H. She did a play called “Deck the Halls with Poison Ivy during the Christmas season.” Her hobbies are cooking, dancing, painting, sewing, arts and crafts, and gymnastics. Her favorite subject in school is math, and her favorite teacher is Janie Turnley.
“I made a purple shirt and pants, and I put it in the 4-H clothing competition,” said Aubrey.

Ty Hebert

Kaplan’s Hebert has worked hard to win parish student of the year

Eighteen year old Ty Hebert of Kaplan High was chosen to be the Vermilion Parish Student of the Year.
The son of James and Charlsie Hebert, he is the youngest with two older sisters. His GPA is a 4.0 and hobbies include 4-H, Beta, cross country and track and field. These hobbies helped him achieve being Student of the Year.
“I was excited. I put in a lot of work throughout high school and before high school while seeking out leadership positions, doing all my extracurriculars and trying to excel as much as I could in high school, it’s good feeling,” said Hebert.
