Erath remains No. 38 in power ratings; Kaplan, Abbeville drop in ranking; VC Eagles stay at No. 3

A win did not do anything in helping the Erath Bobcats move up in the latest Class 3A power ratings.
A week ago the Bobcats were ranked No. 38 in the Class 3A Power ratings, according to the website,
The Bobcats improved to 3-3 on Friday with a win over the Kaplan Pirates. Despite the win, the Bobcats remained at No. 38 in power standings with four games remaining.
On the other hand, the Pirates were ranked No. 30 before playing Erath. With the loss, the Pirates fell 11 slots to No. 41.

Wildcats play Thursday night in Abbeville

Here we are in Week 7, and the Abbeville Wildcats are still trying to find themselves.
The Wildcats sport a 1-5 record and will be at home tonight against the 4-2 Crowley Gents.
Abbeville head coach Kevin Kern is waiting for his team to play up to their potential.
“We have been inconsistent,” said Kern. “One play we do this well and then next play we mess up. We commit a penalty or do something to hurt us. I have not seen us play four quarters of good football.”

Ascension Episcopal beats Delcambre

At one time, it was 6-6 in the first quarter, but then Ascension Episcopal scored 43 straight points and cruised to a 49-20 win over Delcambre.
Ascension led 21-6 after the first quarter and 42-6 at halftime.
Delcambre’s only touchdown in the first half came by way of the air. Quarterback Kalob Moneaux completed a 57-yard pass to Parker Nunez.
Moneaux scored a late touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it 49-13.
Ascension had 428 total yards of offense. They threw for 158 and ran for 270 yards.

LaGrange beats North Vermilion

The North Vermilion Patriots got behind 26-0 and never could catch up against LaGrange.
The Patriots, playing in their first Class 4A district game, lost 32-14, to LaGrange.
NV (3-3, 0-1) was down 6-0 after the first quarter and then at halftime, it was 20-0.
LaGrange had 305 yards of offense while NV had 299.
Kendrick Baudion rushed for 103 yards on 22 carries for NV.
The Patriots had more passing yards than rushing yards.
Ethan Guidry started at quarterback for NV. He completed 15 out of 27 passes for 167 yards and he threw two touchdowns.

VC was too much for Hanson

FRANKLIN - The Vermilion Catholic Eagles scored 38 points in the first period and cruised to a 50-7 district win over Hanson on Thursday.
The game was just about over four minutes into the game.
VC scored on its opening drive that took 90 seconds. Then, on Hanson’s first drive, the VC defense caused a fumble and received it around midfield.
A few plays later, VC quarterback Drew Lege connected with receiver Saul Dartez for a 41-yard touchdown pass at the 9:35 mark in the first period.
The Eagles scored two more touchdowns in the first period.
