Erath sweeps district cross country meet

There was not much drama when it came to running the District 6-3A Cross Country Meet.
The meet was held on Monday at Kaplan High School.
Kaplan, Erath, David Thibodeaux and Abbeville competed in the three mile course that was run around Kaplan High and the football and baseball stadiums.
In the end, the favored teams dominated.
The Erath boys and girls took home first place in team standings.
In the boys race, Erath had five out of the six top runners.
Joel Allen of Erath finished first with a time of 16:45.

Erath falls short of pulling off upset against St. Martinville

ERATH – Down two scores at halftime, the Erath Bobcats rallied in the second half and took a four-point lead over District 6-3A rival, and district leading, St. Martinville Senior High Friday night during homecoming at EHS.
A couple of big plays, including a 50-yard touchdown run from Trent Bristo and a field goal from Dylan Duhon, pushed the Bobcats to a 28-24 lead with just about two minutes left in the third quarter.

Drew Lege has now thrown for a career 8,000 yards for VC.

VC quarterback throws for 506 yards and seven touchdowns

CENTERVILLE - Who throws for 500 yards in a football game? Most high school quarterbacks are thrilled if they throw for 500 yards in a season.
On Friday, VC’s four-year starting quarterback Drew Lege went where no quarterback in the parish probably ever gone. Lege threw for a VC school record, 506 yards, and seven touchdowns against Centerville on the road.
Before Friday, Lege’s single-game high was 415 yards thrown his sophomore season.
VC cruised to a 55-20 win over Centerville to improve to 5-0 with two games remaining in the regular season.

Second quarter is when VC turns on the offense; The Eagles are scoring an average of 27 points in the second quarter

The second quarter turned out to be Vermilion Catholic’s go-to quarter.
Thus far, the Eagles scored an average of 27 points in the second quarter.
On Friday in New Iberia, VC whipped Highland Baptist 46-6 in a district game.
VC (4-0) led 7-0 after the first quarter, but then exploded for 21 points in the second quarter to put the game away.
Against Hanson, VC was losing 8-6 when the first quarter ended. By halftime, the Eagles led 44-6 and cruised to a 56-8 win.
