Agents Cite Two Subjects for Shrimping Violations in Terrebonne Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited two subjects for alleged shrimping violations in Terrebonne Parish on July 28.
Agents cited Ronald Verret Jr., 40, and Amy Palmer, 39, both of Houma, for skimming for shrimp during a closed season.
Agents were on patrol near East Bay Junop when they observed a shrimping vessel actively skimming for shrimp in closed waters. Agents made contact with Verret Jr. and Palmer on the vessel and found them in possession of 1,560 pounds of shrimp.

LDWF Agents Arrest 12 Subjects for DWI on the Water During Operation Dry Water Weekend

In support of Operation Dry Water, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division arrested 12 boaters statewide for alleged driving or operating a vessel while intoxicated (DWI) from July 1 to July 3.

On July 1, agents arrested:

Johnny W Calton V, 29, Grayson, on the Ouachita River in Caldwell Parish.
Cody Overland, 28, of Independence, on the Tickfaw River in Livingston Parish.
Brett D. Fitch, 38, of Cecilia, on the Atchafalaya River in St. Martin Parish.

Agents Arrest Baton Rouge Man for Forging Boat Registration

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents arrested a Baton Rouge man for alleged forgery, injuring public records, and theft violations in East Baton Rouge Parish on June 1.
Agents arrested Douglas Schooling, 57, for forgery, injuring public records and theft.
The LDWF Licensing and Registration Office received a boat registration application packet for a vessel on March 16, 2023, containing a boat registration certificate listing Schooling as the registered owner and a bill of sale of the boat/motor with an incorrect registration number.

LDWF Agents have arrested five subjects for DWI on the Water during first week of June

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division have arrested five boaters for alleged driving or operating a vessel while intoxicated (DWI) during the first week of June.
On June 1, agents arrested Kevin Stevens, 44, of Hammond, for DWI on the Tangipahoa River in Tangipahoa Parish.
On June 2, agents arrested Colby Troxclair, 28, of Pierre Part, for DWI on the Atchafalaya River in St. Mary Parish.
On June 3, agents arrested Michael L. Wingate, 40, of Sulphur, for DWI on the Calcasieu Ship Channel in Calcasieu Parish.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards he has signed the following bills from the 2023 Regular Legislative Session into law:
ACT 1-HB294 Provides for certain insurance premium discounts.
ACT 2-HB113 Provides relative to volunteer board members of certain interlocal risk management agencies.
ACT 3-HB123 Provides relative to nursing home requirements and standards for emergency preparedness plans.
ACT 4-HB319 Repeals a provision of licensure by endorsement for nurses.
ACT 5-HB230 Provides for the continuous revision of the Code of Civil Procedure.
