Across more than 40 years, thousands of visitors have come to Abbeville to enjoy the Giant Omelette Celebration.
And none have had to pay an entry fee for that enjoyment.
That is thanks in large part to sponsors that have supported the celebration over the years, a list that will now include SpaceX. When the 42nd Annual Giant Omelette Celebration rolls around Nov. 7-8, the aerospace company will be among its backers.

ERATH — As of Tuesday afternoon, Erath remained on track to cut power this Friday for essential work at the town’s electrical facility on Lastie Street (old Hwy. 14) .
According to Erath officials, the town is expected to turn off the electricity around 7 a.m. on Friday and turn it back on when the work is complete, hopefully, around 7 p.m. that same day. However, the plan could shift if the predicted rain arrives.
At last, after nearly two years of anticipation, Erath is set to receive its own transformer capable of drawing power directly from a supplier.

GUEYDAN — Officers arrested a man who allegedly threatened to shoot an employee and rob bank in Gueydan after being denied a loan late last week.
Donald Faulk, 66, of Gueydan faces charges of Attempted First Degree Robbery and Terrorizing.
On Oct. 2, at approximately 2 p.m., officers with the Gueydan Police Department were dispatched to the Bank of Gueydan in reference to an individual threatening to go get a gun and shoot an employee.
