A delegation of eight members of the Confrerie d’ Abbeville traveled to Dumbea, New Caledonia to participate in the cooking of our sister city’s Giant Omelette Celebration on April 22. The group left from the Lafayette airport on April 17 for the long journey. They arrived in Dumbea on the April 19, after a connection in Auckland, New Zealand. There is a 16 hour time difference between Abbeville and Dumbea. The group stayed just under a week in Dumbea. They will make a three day stop in Fiji then a three day visit in New Zealand before arriving home on May 3. Confrerie members are encouraged to travel to one of the six other omelette celebrations throughout the year. In addition to Dumbea, omelette celebrations are held in Bessieres, France on Easter Monday; Frejus, France in September; Granby, Quebec in Canada in June.; Malmedy, Belgium in August and Pigue, Argentina in December. Abbeville’s Giant Omelette Celebration is held each November on the 1st full weekend. For more information visit . Shown are Abbeville delegation with their host families in Dumbea.

Miss Katie Marie Henry and Mr. Toby James Brasseaux, both of Erath, are announcing their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the New Life Church in Abbeville.
Katie is the daughter of Randall and Rebecca White of Abbeville and Adam Henry.
She is a 2005 graduate of Erath High School and a 2008 graduate of Remington College.
Toby is the son of Sherry and Gary Brasseaux of Abbeville. He is employed as an operator with C&D Wireline of Broussard.

Le Barn Rouge in Lafayette was the setting for the ceremony uniting Jenna Victoria Daniels and James Lynn Godwin in marriage on April 14, 2018.
Barbara Broussard officiated the nuptial.
The beautiful bride is the daughter of Donald and Glena Gaspard of Gueydan and Carley and Brenetta Daniels of Maurice. Her maternal grandparents are Glynn Gillentine (deceased) of Gueydan and Elizabeth Gillentine of Crowley. Her paternal grandparents were Homer and Delta Daniels of Gueydan.

Miss Lena Marie Nelson of Abbeville and Mr. Marcus Fletcher Handy of Franklin were united in the Sacrament of holy matrimony during an evening service on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA.
Deacon Randy Hyde served as celebrant of the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Nelson Sr. of Abbeville. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Zenon Sr. of Abbeville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Luma Nelson Jr. of New Iberia.
