The FIEB January 4-H Meeting (6-8) was held in the FIEB library and was called to order by Presidents, Shailey Trahan and Nash Hebert at 1:35 on January 14, 2020. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Andrus Touchet and the 4-H Pledge was led by Londyn Rougeaux. Bryce Trahan read the minutes of the last meeting and called roll. Treasurer, Isabella Trahan gave the treasurer’s report. Gracy Broussard brought the club up to date on news articles and pictures. CRD chairmen, Tucker Meaux and Alyssa Gaspard, gave the CRD report.
Natalie Blair Choplin, of Lafayette, LA and Dylan Joseph Touchet, of Maurice, LA, were united in a nuptial mass on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA. Father Donald Bernard officiated the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Choplin of Lafayette, LA and the granddaughter of Nan Hadaway and the late Leslie Broussard, of Lafayette, LA and Pierre Louis Choplin and the late Barbara Choplin of Duson, LA.
Rex and Jane Simon celebrate 65 years of marriage on January 29, 2020. The couple recently celebrated this milestone Anniversary at a luncheon with their five children and their spouses. At that luncheon, they shared stories about how they first met and their early years together. In their six and a half decades of marriage, Rex and Jane have also been blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The couple resides in the Maurice area.
Seventh Ward Elementary second grade students learned about the three branches of government. During this unit, students participated in an election for class president. Pictured is Ciji’s Class with President Journey Lopez.
Several students at Seventh Ward Elementary have earned 100 plus A.R. points for the 2019-2020 school year. For their hard work, dedication to reading, and determination at reaching this challenging school goal each student received a “100 A.R. Point Club” shirt that can be worn on Wednesdays.
