Continuing to honor service

With state funds cut, local effort being made to keep Military Museum going

The Louisiana Military Hall of Fame and Museum opened its doors in Abbeville more than six years ago with the goal of honoring those from the state who have served this country.

As the state’s budget has continued to tighten during the last year, local efforts are being made to ensure that the doors to the museum remain open.

The museum has operated under the Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler’s office. Last year, his office cut hours of museums across the state in an effort to save money. Schedler’s office is now having to completely shed financial burden of the museums, including the Military Hall of Fame and Museum in the city.
