Vermilion Parish School Board will decide to have 7 or 9 members

No one likes a tie. In the sports world, they have come up with ways to break a tie by going into overtime or playing extra innings. But in the political arena, especially the 8-member Vermilion Parish School Board, there is no way to break a tie vote.
Some thought the school board president had the power to break a tie, but the president does not. Others thought the superintendent was the deciding tie breaker. Wrong again.

Delcambre man accused of possessing stolen items

DELCAMBRE — An investigation into items stolen from a local business led to the arrest of a 48-year-old Delcambre man.
On Sept. 18, at 3:15 p.m., officers of the Delcambre Police Department, along with members of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Narcotics Task Force, served an arrest and search warrant on Ty F. Leblanc of 605 N Marie St. in Delcambre.

JA of Abbeville brings art to Boys & Girls Club

Art can be appreciated on many different levels.
Members of the Boys & Girls Club Rodney Simon Unit in Abbeville have good reason to appreciate a new piece of art on display at the club...it’s their work.
As part of their annual “Artfully Yours” project, members of the Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville and community volunteers helped each of the kids at the club with various art projects.

Cattle Festival ends lease with float company; will tear down building in Abbeville

It has been known as the building where floats are built and stored. In the next few weeks the old metallic yellow building near WalMart on Rodeo Road is going to be knocked down and the metal sold for scraps.
As for the floats, they are gone and no longer being housed or built in the building.
For more than 50 years, the building has been the location for float building and storage.
