Grand Jury hands down true bill against Ware for molestation of juvenile

According to the 15h Judicial District Attorney’s office, a Grand Jury handed down a True Bill against Alan Joseph Ware of Abbeville last week.
Ware, whose last address is 8908 Rue Elanc in Abbeville, was indicted on seven counts.
Ware was arrested and charged in June of 2022.
Two of the seven were sexual battery charges.
He was charged twice for molestation of a juvenile (victim under 17 years old but older than 13 years old) and three charges of indecent behavior with a minor.

ExxonMobil awards Ducks Unlimited $500,000 for Louisiana Wetland Restoration

LAFAYETTE – ExxonMobil recently committed $500,000 to Ducks Unlimited (DU) to help support the Bayou Chene restoration project in Vermilion Parish.

Abbeville native gets music wing named after him

Abbeville native Wade Robinson was caught off guard when he learned why he was at a dedication program at Plaisance Middle School in St. Landry Parish.
For 34 years, Robinson drove from Abbeville to then Plaisance High School and Northwest High School.
He was the band director from 1967 to 2001 at the two schools.
Earlier this month, his wife Catherine, of 54 years, was able to get him to return to the old Plaisance High School, now Plaisance Middle School, by telling him a small lie.

Vermilion Parish School District best in Acadiana Region

The Vermilion Parish School System continued to lead the way in the Acadiana area for District Performance Scores as the Louisiana Department of Education released them on Wednesday.
Vermilion’s score of 89.2 led the area and garnered a Top 10 statewide district ranking. This score signified a slight growth from last year’s simulated SPS scores.
