Homework In Progress: Boys & Girls Club in Abbeville helping students after school

The Vermilion Boys & Girls Club Rodney Unit is now open for its afterschool program, and homework assistance is readily available.
According to Brian Ford Director of the Boys & Girls Club, “This school year we have two AmeriCorps Members at the club daily to assist all participants with their homework. I encourage parents and school teachers to please consider our program to ensure students get off to a great start this school year.”

With much consideration, I, Kevin Cormier, have made the decision to run for the City Alderman of District C on the Kaplan City Council.
Being a resident of Kaplan all my life and raising my family here I want to see Kaplan continue to grow and prosper.
As I kick off my campaign I look forward to meeting everyone in District C. I will be making rounds throughout the district in the coming weeks and months leading up to the October 12th election sharing my vision and ideas and also listen to concerns and ideas from the Citizens of District C.

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect in an Armed Robbery on Sept. 4.

Sheriff’s Office investigating armed robbery in Indian Bayou

On Sept. 4, at approximately 9:02 p.m., the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an Armed Robbery at the Dollar General located on La. 700 in the community of Indian Bayou.
Sheriff Mike Couvillon says that information obtained by officers at the scene indicate that at approximately 8:50 p.m., a male subject approximately 5 feet 7 inches, 160 pounds, unknown race, entered the store wearing what appears to be a white jump suit, gloves and some type of clothing covering his face.

LOUISIANA MAN ARRESTED AFTER INTENSE MULTISTATE INVESTIGATION

QUITMAN, Texas — Thanks to a five-month investigation by Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Rangers and Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) Brand Inspectors, a Louisiana man is behind bars on three felony cattle theft charges out of Texas.
TSCRA Special Rangers Larry Hand and Bo Fox were in Louisiana Tuesday as LDAF brand inspectors arrested Justin Glenn Thompson, 40, of Hineston. Thompson was subsequently booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail where he remains while awaiting extradition to Texas.
