Patin’s penalty kick proves to be game-winner for North Vermilion Patriots

The North Vermilion Patriots advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Division III playoffs after nipping David Thibodaux High School 1-0 on Thursday.
The match had to be moved to Teurlings High because of a wet field at NV.
The Patriots and David Thibodaux are no strangers to one another. They played one another earlier in the season, and NV won 5-0.
Thursday’s match would be tougher this time around.
After a 0-0 first half, the Patriots’ Lane Patin kicked a penalty kick with about seven minutes to play in the match. Patin’s kick sailed about an inch over a David Thibodaux defense.
NV goalie Dante Boudreaux did not allow a goal.
The Patriots now travel to battle No. 2 University Lab for a quarterfinal match.
This will be the second time they play one another this year. University Lab won 1-0 in the third match of the year.
