North Vermilion Patriots score only two runs in game three to fall

LEROY - After the North Vermilion Patriots scored 18 runs Saturday morning against Iowa in the first game of a double header, they could only score two in the second game.
The Patriots were eliminated from the Class 3A playoffs on Saturday, falling to Iowa, 8-2.
That morning, North Vermilion beat Iowa 18-7 to force a third and final game.

The game was tied at two with Iowa batting in the top of the sixth when Iowa’s Hanson Raymond singled off of NV pitcher Bryce Landry, driving in one run and putting Iowa ahead for good.

Erath falls in third game of quarterfinals

BRUSLY - The third and final game in the Class 3A quarterfinal playoff game did not go as planned for the Erath Bobcats on Saturday.
The Bobcats won the first game on Friday against Brusly, but lost two on Saturday.
Saturday, in the morning, the Bobcats fell 10-0, forcing a third game Saturday night.
Unfortunately, Erath lost 4-2. It was the second year in a row, the Bobcats lost in the third game of the quarterfinal round.
Erath jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Andre Touchet’s 2-RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.

North Vermilion's Never Quit Attitude leads to state title

The North Vermilion Lady Patriots won the Class 3A softball state title by having the attitude, “It is never over, until it is over.”
The Lady Patriots beat Brusly 5-3 in 10 innings on Saturday in a late-night contest.
When the game was on the line, the Lady Patriots could have packed it in and settled for second place in Class 3A.
Not these girls. They wanted it just a little more than Brusly that night.
North Vermilion head coach Joy LeBlanc instilled in her players to give it their all until the final out is made.

Big sixth inning powers Lady Eagles to semifinals

The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles fans and coaches were waiting for their team to show up in the quarterfinal round of the Division IV playoff.
They finally showed up in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, VC scored eight runs and came from behind to win 10-5 against No. 9 seed Ascension Catholic Lady Bulldogs.
VC will have a rematch against district foe Central Catholic Saturday at 11:30 a.m. VC won both games in district play.

Gueydan left off LHSAA all-tourney team

GUEYDAN — The LHSAA released the 2017 Girls Marsh Madness All-Tourament Team and no one from the Class A Gueydan Honeybears landed on the team.
The LHSAA selected 10 girls from Class 5A to Division V.
Merryville’s Andrea Cournoyer, who played only one game in the tournament but scored 36 points, landed on the team.
