A daughter, AnnMarie Kate Richard, was born on August 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s and Children’s Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Richard of Kaplan. The mother is the former Alaina Rung.

Katherine Grace Trahan of Abbeville, Louisiana and Matthew Joseph Boullion of Kaplan, Louisiana were united in marriage on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at L’Eglise in Abbeville, Louisiana. Officiating the 6:30 p.m. ceremony was the Honorable Jonathan Perry.
Katherine is the daughter of Blaine and Stacie Trahan of Abbeville, Louisiana. She is the granddaughter of Linest and Dolores Trahan and the late Mary Alice Gastal Frederick of Abbeville, Louisiana. Special guests included the brides Aunt, Amy Frederick Winch and the grooms aunt, Marta Ontiveros.

Matthew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen Hanks of Rayne. The wedding Mass will take place on Friday, December 31, 2021, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. Grandparents of the future bride are Janelle Landry and the late Alvin Landry of Maurice, and Mr. and Mrs.

Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza welcomed the attendants of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. Gardening School on September 1, 2021, at the Vermilion Parish Ag Center in Abbeville. Thirty members attended the school sponsored by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Lafayette Garden Club, and Abbeville Garden Club. Preparations for the school were coordinated by LGCF Gardening School Chairman Anita Petitjean.

Abbeville hosts National Garden Club, Gardening School

National Garden Clubs, Inc. Gardening School Series 11, Course 2 was held on Sept. 1-2 at the Vermilion Parish LSU AgCenter in Abbeville.
The school was sponsored by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Lafayette Garden Club and Abbeville Garden Club.
Preparations for the school were coordinated by LGCF Gardening School Chairman Anita Petitjean.
NGC created the Gardening School program to assist its members in achieving the goal - “all gardeners can be accomplished horticulturists”.

JA of Abbeville Awards Crown Scholars

Abbeville- The Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville motto is “Care Today… Character Tomorrow” and it upholds this motto through its many service projects provided to Vermilion Parish Youth.
One of their longest running projects that ensures they assist in “Character Tomorrow” is titled Crown Scholar. This project awards two $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors based upon their submitted applications to continue their education for a better future.
