Gene Edward Baudoin

July 15, 1937 - November 17, 2019

Abbeville — A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, honoring the life of Gene Edward Baudoin, 82, who died Sunday, November 17, 2019. He passed away peacefully with family by his side at The Ellington in Rayne. Deacon Byron Soley will officiate the service. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery at a later date.
Gene was born in Natchitoches Louisiana and moved to Abbeville when he was 2 years old and moved back to Natchitoches after retirement. He attended Mount Carmel Academy and graduated from Abbeville High School in 1955. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956 He served as an air traffic controller with Early Warning and took part in 91 missions. He married Marlene
Broussard Nov 3, 1956. After discharge from the Navy he worked in the Oil Field retiring in 1999 from Shell Oil Co after 38 years in the oil field. He returned to Acadiana after his wife died in 2014.
Gene is survived by his son, Dr. Bryan Baudoin and wife, Wendy; grandson, Kyle Baudoin; Granddaughter, Madison Baudoin; brother, Paul Baudoin and wife, Elizabeth; brother-in- law, Terry Broussard and wife, Rose; godchild, Anna Larriviere; two aunts, Kay Thomas and Madeline Baudoin; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Baudoin and the former Geraldine Smith; Wife, Marlene Broussard Baudoin; daughter, Gwendolyn Baudoin; grandson Justin Baudoin; and sister, Dolores Baudoin Armentor.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM.

Joseph J. Vidalier

August 6, 1935 ~ November 20, 2019

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Joseph J. Vidalier, 84, who died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Eastridge Nursing Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon William "Billy" Vincent officiating the services.
Joseph is survived by his son, David Vidalier and his wife, Julie of Abbeville; sister, Gertrude Hanks of Crowley; and special caregiver, Becky Luquette and her family of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Aline Vidalier; and parents, Senua Vidalier and the former Edia Breaux.

Velta Hebert Meaux

February 3, 1938 ~ November 17, 2019

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Velta Hebert Meaux, 81, who died Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Vermilion Health Care Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.
She is survived by her three sons, Gregg Meaux and his wife, Debby of Kaplan, Kent Meaux and his wife, Celeste of Kaplan, and Boyd Meaux and his wife, Anna of Lafayette; her six grandchildren, Mitch Meaux, Marcell Meaux, Madilyn Meaux, Taylor Meaux, Matthew Meaux, and Zachary Meaux; seven great grandchildren; and her two brothers, Rodolph Hebert, Jr. of Nunez and Ronald Hebert of Nunez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gene Meaux; her parents, Rodolph Hebert and the fomer Alor Hebert; and one brother, Eston Hebert.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 12:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM.

Cheryl Salathe Fontenot

ABBEVILLE – Funeral Services for Mrs. Cheryl Salathe Fontenot, 69, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at David Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
A native of New Orleans and a resident of Erath, Mrs. Fontenot died at 4:00AM on Monday, November 18, 2019 at AMG Hospital of Lafayette. She was a loving and warm wife, a strong and caring mom and dedicated to the nursing profession. Cheryl went back to school to become a nurse in 1990, before working at Abbeville General for 13 years. She then worked for 13 years for SLCC where she became a professor of nursing at SLCC and eventually Director of Nursing at SLCC. She also loved arts and crafts, fishing, Pokeeno, Road trips, and her beloved Pet Trixie.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Fontenot of Erath; a son, Danny Fontenot of Erath; a daughter, Andrea Waters and her husband Jeremy of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Linda Salathe and Dianne Labourdette; and four grandchildren, Dylan Fontenot, Drew Fontenot, Danielle Fontenot, and Drake Fontenot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Birdie Aviragnet Salathe.
In Lieu of flower the family has requested donation to St. Jude’s Hospital or Friends of the Animals of Baton Rouge.

Four arrested for drug offenses in Vermilion Parish

According to Captain Drew David, the Public Information Officer for the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made the following arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
On Oct. 21, Don Mitchell, 44, of Abbeville, was arrested in Abbeville for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, (Hydrocodone), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Synthetic Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (MDMA), Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a restricted person.
On Oct. 28, Christian Baez, 18, of Erath, was arrested in Erath and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Firearm in the presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
On Oct. 29, Billy Dalton Comeaux Brailey, 28, of Abbeville, was arrested in Abbeville for Principal to Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, (Methamphetamine), Possession of Schedule I, (Marijuana), Transactions involving Drug Proceeds.
On Nov. 15, Michael Roche Jr., 26, of Kaplan, was arrested in Kaplan for Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Sheriff Mike Couvillon would like to thank the Mayors, and their council, of Abbeville, Gueydan, and Erath, along with their Chiefs of Police, for their support of the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force. Sheriff Couvillon also applauds the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Task Force in fighting the war on illegal drugs. Maurice Meaux Sr.

ABBEVILLE – Funeral services for Maurice Meaux Sr., 86. Will be held Wednesday November 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM in David Funeral Home with Deacon Bill Vincent of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday November 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. And will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
Maurice was a native and lifelong resident of Abbeville , he love hunting, fishing and the outdoors; he was also a volunteer fire fighter for 10 years and a Veteran of the US Army. He passed away Sunday November 17, 2019 at his residents surrounded by his loving family.
Survivors include his four children Ronald Meaux, Maurice Meaux Jr., and Carolyn Meaux all of Abbeville, and Sandra and her husband Charles Bourque of Kaplan; one brother Oris Connors. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Beaudeaux Meaux; two daughters Louanna Meaux and Debra Meaux; his parents Otis and Roberta Saltzman Meaux; sisters Dorothy Landry and Anna Mae LeBlanc; and his brother Percy Meaux Sr.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jareth Meaux, Brett Hebert, Tyler Benoit, Dane Bertrand, Blade Thomas, and Kane Meaux. Honarary pallbearers will be Spencer Marceaux, Drake Garner, Gage Meaux, Philippe Bourque, Kelby Meaux, and Matthew Fontenot.

September 25, 1961 ~ November 13, 2019

KAPLAN — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Tina Clostio Broussard, 58, who died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery with Reverend Donald Bernard officiating the services.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Johnny J. Broussard of Kaplan; her two sons, Cody Broussard and his wife, Brittany of Kaplan and Tyler Broussard of Kaplan; her mother, Rosa Belle “Shu Shun” Nunez Clostio; one sister, Charlotte C. Detraz and her husband, Johnny of Abbeville; one brother, Regan J. Clostio and his companion, Belynda Lane of Kaplan; three grandchildren, Kenslyn, Kennedi, and Kullen Broussard, all of Kaplan; two nephews, Derek Broussard and Jacob Clostio; and four nieces, Christine Dunn, Jenifer Broussard, Suzanne Breaux, and Deirdre Detraz.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jean Melvin Clostio.

Couple exchanged vows on Saturday, November 16

Miranda Katherine Bertrand and Eric Michael Broome were united in matrimony on Saturday, November 16, 2019 during an afternoon ceremony, followed by a reception at The Southern Oaks Plantation in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 2 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Judge Kevin J. Centanni.
Miranda is the daughter of Janet and Craig Viator of Erath and David and Deborah Bertrand of Abbeville. Eric is the son of Michael and Jane Broome of Prescott, Arizona.
Escorted by her father, David, and her stepfather, Craig, the bride wore a fit and flare dress by Stella York. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline with a sheer bodice and was adorned with a rich mixture of pearls, bugle beads and silver beading. She wore a cathedral length veil by Bel Aire Bridal and carried a bouquet of ivory roses, mini ranunculus, rosemary and olive bushes.
Serving as Matron of Honor was Jennifer Luquette, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sarah Broome, sister of the groom, Megan Stolkey, Karen James, Danielle Schlegel, all friends of the bride, and Madison Mouton, godchild of the bride. The attendants wore David’s Bridal marine, high neck mesh dress with full skirt. They carried a smaller version of the floral arrangement in the bridal bouquet.
Serving as flower girl was Amelia Viator, niece of the bride.
Matt Lagrand, friend of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Aaron Smith, Brandon Phillips, Wyatt Skjothaug, all friends of the groom, Jesse Viator, brother of the bride, and Landon Toups, godchild of the bride.
A rehearsal supper was hosted by the bride and groom at the AC Hotel by Mariott in New Orleans on the eve of the wedding.
After returning from a honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will be residing in Anchorage, Alaska.

Miss Britney Noela Broussard becomes Mrs. Tanner Jamison Dubuc

Miss Britney Noela Broussard and Mr. Tanner Jamison Dubuc were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at half past six o’clock in the evening at Saint Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. The Reverend Father Paul Broussard, uncle of the bride, officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Broussard of Abbeville. Her mother is the former Gwen Huval. Britney is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elda Trahan Huval of Abbeville and the late Daniel Wade Huval, and Mr. and Mrs. John Huey Broussard of Abbeville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall L. Dubuc of Scott, La. His mother is the former Jeanne Landry. Tanner is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James (Jimmy) Landry and Mr. Leeland Xavier Dubuc and Mrs. Mary Delores Dubuc.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, selected a beautiful gown designed by Essence of Australia. The mermaid silhouette gown was made of graphic ivory lace over matte-side lustre satin. Off-the shoulder sheer lace sleeves framed a deep sweetheart neckline with a cathedral length train finished with organic edged lace. A stunning cameo lace back shows off the swirling scroll lace. To complete her ensemble, Britney wore an elegant two-tier pencil edge fingertip veil.
Meaningful details included by the bride in her bridal bouquet included a picture of her grandfather Daniel Wade Huval in a locket. As her something old, she used her great-grandmother Noela Trahan’s rosary along with a crucifix from her cousin Brock Wade Huval. She borrowed one of her mother’s flowers from her wedding bouquet to complement her bouquet of Vendela roses, white hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus, and silver dollar eucalyptus.
Leah B. McLain, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, Annemarie Broussard, sister of the bride and Ali Dubuc, sister of the groom, served as bridesmaids. They wore hunter green sleek scuba-crepe sheath gowns with cap-sleeves and a deep v-back with a bow by Speechless.
Patrick Mouton, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included, Logan Primeaux, friend of the groom and Brad Dubuc, brother of the groom. Ushers included Graham Lege, friend of the groom, Caleb and Ben Dubuc, cousins of the groom, and Marcus Broussard, brother of the bride. Tanner, the groomsmen and the ushers wore Michael Kors steel grey suits.
The mother of the bride wore a charming ice pink lace v-neck, floor length sheath dress embellished with beaded alencon lace with a champagne underlay. She completed her gown with a crystal rhinestone sash belt.
The mother of the groom wore a burgundy colored mermaid dress with a diamond patterned lace overlay embellished with flowers cascading throughout. This off the shoulder styling leads to a modern day look.
Readings for the ceremony were given by Katie Landy, cousin of the groom and Katie Guidry friend of the bride and groom. Anne Broussard, aunt of the bride and Caleb Dubuc, cousin of the groom brought up a Bible and Crucifix.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Mr. Tommy Guidry, organist and Mr. Jared Gray, trumpeter.
Following the wedding nuptials, a reception was held at Erath Community Center which was beautifully decorated with elevated ferns and arrangements of florals in an array of white vendela roses, peach roses, sunflowers, white and sea blue hydrangeas, and seeded eucalyptus.
The bride selected for her wedding day a three tiered French vanilla wedding cake and featured pecan praline, bavarian cream and cream cheese fillings and was accented with fresh flowers. The groom selected a 3 tiered chocolate chip cookie cake with vanilla icing.
A rehearsal dinner was held on Thursday November 14, 2019 hosted by the groom’s parents, Randy and Jeanne Dubuc at Farm Bureau in Abbeville, La. Following their return from a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, the couple will reside in Meaux, Louisiana.

Tommy James Stoute, Sr.

ERATH – Funeral Services for Tommy James Stoute, Sr., 62, will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, November 18, 2019 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Erath with Rev. Bert Langley officiating. Interment will follow at Hebert Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1:00PM until 9:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
A resident of Erath, Mr. Tommy Stoute was born August 2, 1957 and passed away at his residence on November 16, 2019 from a long battle with Dementia. Tom was diagnosed in August of 2011 and fought every day but never complained and continued to laugh, make memories with his family enjoying life to the fullest. Tom loved unconditionally.  He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone he met.  
He graduated from Erath High School in 1977 then married his middle school sweetheart, Wendy Suire, on August 18, 1978.  
He and his wife began their own business of Tommy Stoute Sheetrock and Painting, and eventually bought the family business, Big John's Seafood Patio. 
He loved all of his various jobs but the one he most treasured was working for Vermilion Parish School Board as a bus driver for 20 years.  He loved the students who rode his bus and treated them as if they were his own..  
Tommy enjoys life and spending time with his family.  His favorite place in the world was the beach He could spend endless hours just sitting and enjoying the sights and sounds of every aspect of the beach.  He also loved the Fourth of July Celebration in Erath and could be found dancing to various kinds of music, especially Zydeco.
He loved to talk, laugh and tell stories.  His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world and everything he did, he did for them.  
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wendy Suire Stoute of Erath; a son, Tommy J, “Monkey” Stoute, Jr. and his wife Kimberley of Erath; two daughters, Rachel Romero and her husband Jeremy of Erath and Gabrielle Stoute and her fiancé Troy Noel of Erath; a brother, Dalton J. Stoute, Jr. of Erath; three sisters, Kathy Breaux of Lafayette, Susan Ho of Erath, and Windy Stoute of Erath; nine grandchildren, Bailey Broussard, Parker Romero, Lynkon Romero, Maverick Romero, John Stoute, Trystan Stoute, Jackson Stoute, Harper Stoute, and Reese Stoute; three step grandchildren, Jayde Noel, Alex Noel, and Brandon Noel; and two great grandchildren, Cole Ryan Strother and Bristol Kate Broussard.
He was preceded in died by his parents, Dalton J. Stoute, Sr. and Dorothy Landry Stoute; and a brother, Scotty Stoute.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy J. “Monkey” Stoute, Trystan Stoute, Jeremy Romero, Parker Romero, Lynkon Romero, and John Stoute.
