Louisiana Cattle Festival welcomes new Royalty

On Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, the Louisiana Cattle Festival Association proudly welcomed a new group of royalty to reign over the 75th Louisiana Cattle Festival, scheduled for October 3-5, 2025.
The newly crowned kings and queens are tasked with promoting the Festival during their year long reign in addition to representing the Festival Association, the state’s cattle industry, and the City of Abbeville and Vermilion Parish.

Clavern Adams achieves dream by earning engineering degree

Over a decade ago, a bright, ambitious 13-year-old named Clavern Adams stood out at J.H. Williams Middle School. As Student of the Year, he expressed a dream to one day become an engineer, driven by his love for math and a hunger for challenge. Today, that young man is a college graduate with a degree in electrical engineering—proof that hard work, focus, and belief can turn dreams into reality.
But the journey wasn’t easy.

Duhon, Vice named Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship recipients

ERATH — Jessica Duhon and MaKayla Vice have been named as the recipients of the 2025 Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship.
Duhon and Vice are both seniors at Erath High School.
The award is named in honor of Shelby Cormier, who along with his wife, Betty, founded the Erath Softball League in 1971. Betty Cormier created the Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship after her husband passed away in 2002.
