Erath's Bradford wins Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship

Upon the recommendation of the Vermilion Parish School Board, Vermilion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais announces scholarship recipient of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program
Sheriff Langlinais is happy to announce Andrew Bradford of Erath High has been named the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 school year.
Andrew resides in Erath and plans to attend UL Lafayette and pursue mechanical engineering as a field of study. His parents are Nicholas Bradford and Ashlee Girard.

Trahan receives Chester Broussard Memorial Scholarship

Next month, Felicia Trahan will graduate as a registered nurse from South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc).
Trahan, a Kaplan resident and native of Gueydan, has worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for the past eight years. She is the mother of two teenage girls, 16 and 14, whose husband works offshore.
“Life is definitely hectic,” Trahan told members of the Rotary Club of Abbeville. “I’m working to finish up nursing school.”

Kathryn Grace Touchet crowned Vermilion Farm Bureau Queen

Kathryn Grace Touchet has been announced as the new Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau Queen.
Touchet received her crown during a gathering of the Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau Federation last week. Louisiana Farm Bureau Queen Emma Stelly helped crown Touchet during the celebration.
Touchet, the daughter of Michael and Theresa Touchet, is a senior at Erath High School.

Students and members of the Vermilion Catholic community gathered at the old Catholic cemetery for the burial of seven unclaimed bodies. Since 2019, Vermilion Catholic seniors classes have helped bury 65 unclaimed bodies.

As you approach the front doors of Vermilion Catholic, you will see a two-part school motto displayed above both doors. Upon entering the school building, the first part reads, “Enter to Learn Christ,” as you leave the building, the second part reads, “Leave to Serve Christ.”
 This motto is something the school strives to instill in all of our students on a daily basis.
