Jerome Puyau will no longer have the superintendent title in front of his name. He will, however, be the new school district's "consultant for the new superintendent" for the next nine months. His salary will be $12,000 a month until September of 2020.

Superintendent Jerome Puyau era has ended with the Vermilion Parish School Board; however, he will still be employed with the Vermilion Parish School system and will be collecting a $12,000 a month salary for the next nine months.
At Thursday’s meeting, by a vote of 8-0, the school board has agreed to accept an offer ironed out between Puyau’s lawyer and the school board lawyer.
Bob Hammonds, the school board’s attorney, read to the public what the settlement agreement is.

Vermilion Parish School System is now the second best school system in Louisiana

Vermilion Parish School Superintendent Jerome Puyau was almost in tears when he made the big announcement Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Central Office employees gathered outside under the giant oak tree to hear the great news from Puyau.
He told the central office employees and sent out an email to every school employee that the Vermilion Parish School system now the second-best school district in Louisiana.
“This was a team effort,” said Puyau.

Couvillon wins Sheriff race in Vermilion Parish

There will be some familiar faces returning to their respective elected positions in Vermilion Parish, with a few new faces as well, after polls closed on Saturday’s election day.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon will get a fifth term after a win Saturday against challenger Lance Broussard. Couvillon received ?10,421 votes (56%) Broussard, who served 35 years Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received 8,061 votes (44%).

Federal judge denies issuing restraining order against three Vermilion Parish School Board members

Superintendent Jerome Puyau asked Federal Judge Robert R. Summerhays to grant a temporary restraining order against three school board members.
After 45 minutes of hearing attorney arguments, Summerhays denied issuing a temporary restraining order against board members Laura LeBeouf, Kibbie Pillette and David Dupuis.
Had the judge approved the restraining order, LeBeouf, Pillette and Dupuis could not vote on anything dealing with Puyau.
