Police give all clear after report of bomb threat at Rene Rost in Kaplan

KAPLAN — Students and faculty at Rene Rost Middle School had to be evacuated Tuesday after authorities learned of a possible bomb threat at the school.
Members of the Kaplan Police Department and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office responded after receiving notification. A search found no credible evidence of a threat.
“Officers were deployed along with bomb searching K-9s,” Kaplan Chief of Police Joshua Hardy said. “The children were evacuated to a safe location. The school along with all out buildings were searched and cleared of any threats.”

Food Drive is this Tuesday in Abbeville

Every year, the Christian Service Center (CSC) participates in the Food Net for Families Food Drive in Acadiana.
The food drive is this Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Super 1 Foods located at 2210 Veterans Memorial Dr. in Abbeville. Volunteers will be collecting donations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The food collected at Super 1 will go directly to the CSC and provide assistance for anyone in need living in Vermilion Parish.
The Christian Service Center would like to thank all members of the community who have contributed food, time, prayer and monetary donations.

Erath man Succumbs to Injuries in Iberia Parish Crash

NEW IBERIA – At approximately 3:45 pm on November 28th, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle crash on US 90 near Ross Road in Iberia Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 23-year-old Kayleb Leblanc of Erath.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Leblanc was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on US 90. For unknown reasons, his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

Town of Erath ‘Moving Forward’ with Christmas Celebration

ERATH — Erath has stepped up its Christmas Celebration thanks to the town’s new “Moving Erath Forward” mindset.
For years, Erath has had a Christmas Celebration with the lighting of the Christmas Tree and a visit by Santa Claus. The surrounding community has visited City Hall and watched as the lights get turned on.
This year, under Mayor Taylor Mencacci and the Moving Erath Forward members, Christmas celebration in Erath is growing.

HTCA presents “I’ll be Home for Christmas” this Friday and Saturday at Abbeville High School under the direction of Joy Broussard. Mrs Broussard has been the Choir Director at Harvest Time Christian Academy for 16 years.

Harvest Time to present ‘I’ll be home for Christmas’

Harvest Time Christian Academy will present “I’ll be home for Christmas“ at Abbeville high school this Friday and Saturday.
The performances will be under the direction of Joy Broussard. Broussard has been the choir director at harvest Time Christian Academy for 16 years and also serves as CYT Vermilion’s chapter coordinator.
The annual Christmas musical at HTCA is a wonderful long standing tradition for our family, friends and entire community.
