Christmas Stroll is Thursday in Abbeville

At this time of year, Christmas traditions abound throughout Acadiana.
For the last 20 years in historic downtown Abbeville, the tradition has been the annual Christmas Stroll. It will continue this evening with the 2019 installment. The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The Christmas Stroll in Abbeville is a proud tradition of welcoming the Christmas season to our city,” said Councilman Brady Broussard Jr.,” whose district includes the downtown area. “The Christmas lighting in the downtown area continues to attract visitors and locals alike.

The Gift of Giving

Two families in Vermilion Parish are giving extra thanks this holiday season following a single mother’s desire to help those families in need.
Ashlynn Broussard not only wanted to make families smile for Thanksgiving, she also wanted to teach her young daughter about the gift of giving, especially during the holidays.

Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputy released from hospital

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy injured Sunday during a vehicle pursuit has been released from the hospital.
According to VPSO Public Information Officer Drew David, the deputy was released Monday afternoon.
“He is expected to make a full recovery,” David said, “and return to work in the future. He is very appreciative, and would like to thank everyone for the prayers and thoughts.”

The Joy of Giving

Have you ever met someone who was generous and miserable? Or have you ever known anyone who was selfish and happy? Probably not.
There is a common characteristic in happy people. They give. They look out” for their neighbor. They look for someone who they can help, bless, support, etc. In giving, they find joy.
The Christian Service Center would like to thank all of their supporters and donors who contribute to our community in a variety of ways. Below is a list of thoughts about the joy of giving.

Juvenile wanted for escaping last week arrested Sunday after vehicle chase in Vermilion Parish

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Drew David, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 1, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the juvenile who escaped custody last week.
As deputies attempted to stop, the suspect he began to flee in the vehicle. A pursuit ensued with the Sheriff’s Office being assisted by the Abbeville Police Department. The pursuit went from U.S. Hwy. 167 to west bound on La. Hwy. 14.
