ERATH — Kaye Broussard has had a long run in teaching music at Erath Middle School.
Her journey began 32 years ago, with 27 of those years at Erath Middle. Recently, Broussard decided to retire with great service and wonderful times under her belt.

Spraggins receives college degree before high school degree

Kanzi Spraggins’ family attended his graduation from South Louisiana Community College on Thursday.
Kanzi finished with an overall grade point average of 3.9 and also earned 61 college credits for an associate’s degree.
So, what separates Kanzi from the rest of the community college graduates?
He received an associate degree before he ever received his high school diploma.

93.5 % of Vermilion Parish students graduate

The state’s Department of Education released its graduation rate and more students graduate from Vermilion Parish high schools than 64 other school districts in the state.
Vermilion Parish ranks seventh in Louisiana when it comes to graduating its high school students. The parish graduates 93.5 percent of its students.
The state average is 78.1 percent.
Vermilion Parish Superintendent Jerome Puyau was pleased with the graduation rate.

More than 750 ready to graduate in Vermilion Parish high schools

Approximately 754 students are graduating this year, leaving behind many memories, and creating new ones. All but one school has exceeded last year’s number of graduates; that one school had a difference of 2.
Gueydan High School has 39 high school students graduating Thursday night at the Bill Searle Gym at 7:00 pm. Gueydan is one of the many schools who’s graduates are increasing in number.

Abbeville’s LeBlanc among top UL Lafayette grads

Anne LeBlanc is among the top spring graduates of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette who will be honored on Friday.
Electrical engineering major Matthew Furka is the UL Lafayette’s Outstanding Graduate.
Furka will be among eight award finalists who will be recognized during the Spring 2018 Commencement General Assembly. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Cajundome.
