Donald James Hebert “Donnie”

August 8, 1944 ~ January 15, 2019

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Donald James Hebert, 74, who died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.
He is survived by his two sisters, Ouida H. Porter of Abbeville and Helen H. LeMaire of Forked Island; one brother, Eraste Hebert, Jr. of Abbeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eraste Hebert, Sr. and the former Josephine Campbell; and one brother, Issac Hebert.

Theriot named ‘Student of the Year’

North Vermilion Middle School is proud to announce that Carson Theriot has been named the 2019 Student of the Year.
Carson is very active on campus. He currently serves as president of the NVMS Be the Good club, Student Council representative, 4-H treasurer, and Jr. Beta Chaplin.
In addition to the offices he holds, he’s a member of the North Vermilion Middle School band and the soccer and cross country teams.
Carson credits his parents, Nick and Adrienne Theriot, for shaping the person he is today. He has learned the value of hard work and the challenge of trying new things. He has also learned the value of a good education and hopes to be a civil engineer one day. He wants to help build infrastructure that can help others.
North Vermilion Middle is very proud to have Carson Theriot represent our school as the 2019 Student of the Year.

Amanda LeBlanc - Nicholas Geyer engaged to marry

Miss Amanda M. Leblanc of Abbeville, LA and Mr. Nicholas D. Geyer of Lisle, Illinois, are pleased to announce their engagement and plans of marriage.
The wedding will take place at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA during a 6 p.m. ceremony on April 12, 2019.
Amanda is the daughter of Leslie Paul LeBlanc and Denise W. LeBblanc of Abeville. Her grandparents are the late Doris A. LeBlanc of Abbeville and the late Annie B. LeBlanc, Maxine Lemaire of Erath, LA and the late George Wyatt of San Antonio, TX.
She is a 2011 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School and a 2015 graduate of UL Lafayette with a degree in Nursing. She is a nurse at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
Nicholas is the son of Joseph and Christanna Geyer of Lisle, IL. His grandparents are Agnes Geyer, the late Frite Geyer and the late Dale and Sophia Anderson.
He is a 2007 graduate of Benet Academy in Lisle, IL and a 2011 graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Geology. He is currently attending UL Lafayette. He is a water plant foreman at Ecoserv in Port Fourchon, LA.

Jonathan Perry sworn in as Judge

Kaplan native Jonathan “J.P.” Perry was recently sworn in as the new judge for the Third Circuit Court of Appeal for the state of Louisiana, by Ulysses Gene Thibodeaux, Chief Judge for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. On hand for the event were Perry’s wife and children. The Lake Charles-based 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal, 3rd District, Section 4F seat covers all of Vermilion and portions of Acadia and Lafayette Parishes.

Barbara Ann Gaspard Richardson

July 16, 1953 ~ January 13, 2019

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Barbara Ann Gaspard Richardson, 65, who died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon Cody Miller officiating the services.
Barbara is survived by her son, James Richardson and his wife Brandi; daughter, Nichol Thibodeaux and her husband Robert; two brothers, Donald Gaspard and his wife Charlotte, and Paul Gaspard and his wife Yvonne; sister, Susan Vincent and her husband Laxcy, Sr.; five grandchildren, Taylor Thibodeaux, Lilley Bowen, Scott-Michael Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Blake Richardson and Andrew Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Dale Richardson; parents, Joseph Wilson Gaspard and the former Eugenie Blanchard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, January 18, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.

Noella LeBlanc Hebert

December 7, 1954 ~ January 14, 2019

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Noella Marie LeBlanc Hebert, 64, who died Monday, January 14, 2019 at Eastridge Nursing Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Hagun Hebert, Collin Hebert, Logan Hebert, Glenn LeBlanc, Corie East, Chuck Hebert, Carrol Hebert and Harold Marceaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Brooks Hebert.
Noella is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard Hebert; three sons, Chad Hebert and his wife Rodessa of Kaplan, Chuck Hebert and his wife Udona of Abbeville, and Carrol Hebert and his wife Roxann of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Mallory Hebert, Hagun Hebert, Collin Hebert, Logan Hebert, Emma Hebert, Anna Claire Hebert, and Brooks Hebert; mother, Lilly Joyce Trahan of Abbeville; step-father, Martin “Pete” Trahan of Abbeville; one brother, Glenn D. LeBlanc and his wife Vicki of Abbeville; and two sisters, Diana East and her husband Murphy of Abbeville, and Jeanell LeBlanc of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson LeBlanc; sister, Sanda Faye LeBlanc; and niece, Nicole LeBlanc.

St. Charles St., on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brett Hebert, Jacob Hebert, Ethan Hebert, Aaron Privette and Andre Privette and cousin, Randy Leger.
Loisy is survived by her two sons, Glynn K. Hebert and wife Marilyn of Abbeville, and Jaimie Hebert of Lafayette; two daughters, Bennie Sue Hebert of Abbeville, and Johnette H. Privette and husband Warren, Jr. of Opelousas; one sister, Doris Toups of Hendersonville TN; seven grandchildren, Brett Hebert and wife Kristin, Jacob Hebert and wife Natalie, Ethan Hebert, Emily Hebert, Sarah Hebert, Aaron Privette and Andre Privette; and three great-grandchildren, Kambry, Tanner, and Finley Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Eraste” Hebert; parents, Claude Duhon and the former Edia Abshire; and one sister, Delores Duhon.
