Tayler Guidry to serve as Cattle Festival’s Jr. Parade Marshal

Tayler Guidry, daughter of Bradley and Aimee Guidry, has been selected to serve as the Junior Parade Marshall of the 2019 Louisiana Cattle Festival.
Tayler is from Gueydan and is an 8th grade student at Northside Christian School.
The Cattle Festival’s Grand Parade is set to roll at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Fallon Lege is the winner of the Beef
Scholarship.

Fallon Lege is Beef Scholarship Winner

Fallon Lege, daughter of Chad and Nikki Lege, has been selected as the Beef Scholarship Winner for the 2019 Louisiana Cattle Festival. Fallon is a 17-year-old senior at Vermilion Catholic High School.  After high school, she plans to attend the University of Louisiana majoring in biology and pursuing a career in medicine. She has one sibling Emma. Fallon is a very active 4-H member who has been participating in the beef project for eight years. She raises and exhibits in the show ring, registered grey Brahman, Red Brangus, and Commercial cattle.

Members of the Rotary Club of Abbeville will be honored during Saturday’s Cattle Festival Banquet.

71st Cattle Festival honors Rotary Club of Abbeville with Humanitarian Award

Helping the community is often a group effort.
For its group effort in doing just that, the Rotary Club of Abbeville has received the Humanitarian of the Year honor for the 71st Louisiana Cattle Festival.
The Cattle Festival will be held in Abbeville on Oct. 10-13. The Rotary Club will be among honorees recognized at the Honoree Social and Banquet this Saturday, Oct. 5. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Magdalen Place in Abbeville.

Fr. Richard is Cattle Festival’s Citizen of the Year

This year’s honoree for Citizen of the Year for the 71st Annual Louisiana Cattle Festival is Fr. Louis J. Richard.
The Cattle Festival will be held in Abbeville on Oct. 10-13. The Rotary Club will be among honorees recognized at the Honoree Social and Banquet this Saturday, Oct. 5. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Magdalen Place in Abbeville.

Passenger Succumbs to Injuries After Falling From Pickup in St. Landry Parish

PRAIRIE RONDE – At approximately 8 a.m. on September 21, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle crash on LA 103 South of US-167 in St. Landry Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 38-year-old Frederick Freeman of Opelousas.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed Freeman was riding in the bed of a 2006 Dodge Dakota. For unknown reasons, Freeman fell out of the moving truck and sustained serious injuries.
