Abbevill Building and Loan’s Hylton, Lege complete Leadership School

Abbeville Building and Loan is proud to announce that VP/Lending Manager Michelle Hylton and CFO Randy Lege successfully completed the 2018 Leadership School, “Growing our Next Generation of Leaders”, a six-month program that included online course work and instructors that led in class sessions focusing on developing leadership skills and enhancing knowledge in various areas of banking.

Maurice budget reflective of brighter future

MAURICE — The Village of Maurice is about a month into its new fiscal year, and while considering many aspects are still in recovery mode from the August 2016 floods, the future is starting to show a little brighter.
The Village of Maurice Board of Aldermen, which will meet today at 6 p.m., passed its new budget during last month’s meeting. Maurice’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

Candidates now in place for Nov. 6 elections

Qualifying closed Friday afternoon, setting up several races for the Nov 6. ballot, while leaving others to take office unopposed.
Wayne Theriot will return as Mayor for the Village of Maurice. Theriot will be sworn in for a third term in January.
There will four people running for three spots on the Maurice Board of Aldermen. Three are signed up to run for Maurice Chief of Police.

Corbett LeBouef practiced medicine for 40 years, and he delivered more than 2,000 babies.

Long time Abbeville doctor, Corbett LeBouef passes away

A lifetime resident and icon of Vermilion Parish, Dr. Corbett J. LeBouef, Jr. died peacefully in his Abbeville home on Friday, July 20, 2018 of heart failure.
He was 79.
Dr. LeBouef, or “Doc” as he was affectionately called, was a highly respected and dearly loved family physician who practiced medicine on Hospital Drive in Abbeville for over 40 years, delivering over 2,000 babies and accruing more than 40,000 active patient files by the time his doors closed in 2003.
