Mike Richard announces bid for spot on Erath City Council

Hi, I am Michael (Mike) Richard and I am running for the Erath City Council in the upcoming November election. I was born and raised in Erath. Graduated from Erath High School. I have two years of college in Business Administration. I am member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. I was a Volunteer Fireman for the Erath Fire Dept. for 20 years, a member of the Erath Backers Club for 15 years. I coached Erath Little League for 9 years.
I worked for Coastal Chemical Company as an inventory controller and also Facility Manager and Purchasing manager for Wilkinson Technologies.

Citizens receive closer look at Abbeville Streetscaping project

During Thursday’s open house meeting, the Abbeville City Council answered questions from the public regarding the latest proposed LA-14 Downtown Abbeville Streetscaping project.
Plans for the project include replacing the existing sidewalks, which one resident agrees should be done.
“It has been a long time since improvements have been done, but what I would like to see added are many more handicap ramps installed sparingly around the vicinity of the proposed facelift areas,” said one resident who attended the meeting.

Construction of the fire station continued Thursday afternoon.

Abbeville Fire station work on schedule

Re-opening of the Abbeville Fire Department’s Hebert Substation No. 2 is moving closer to reality.
Construction of the station, which had to be torn down after it was heavily damaged during the historic flooding in August of 2016, is expected to be completed around November. The station is located on Morgan Street on the west side of the Vermilion River.
