Scary Few Minutes: Bares Road residents experience strong winds, hail

Residents in Delcambre and north of Erath experienced a five-to-10-minute storm that frightened them early Sunday morning. The U.S. National Weather Service stated that these residents encountered a “microburst.”
A microburst usually occurs during a thunderstorm or heavy rain shower and is often relatively short-lived. It also dissipates as quickly as it arrives.
Wind speeds can reach up to 100 miles per hour as the air hits the ground and disperses. As a result, this phenomenon is often confused with a tornado or hurricane.
