Lois Melancon Campisi

November 10, 1943 - January 28, 2020

ABBEVILLE — Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 9928 US-167, Abbeville, LA 70510.
Survived by her sons, Kevin and Tony and daughter-in-law, Katie; and sisters, Wilda, Joyce, Melba, Geraldine and Genell.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, Lionel and Effie Melancon; sisters, Hazel, Roselie, and Velta; and brothers, Minest and Whitney.

Abbeville man allegedly stabs mother, himself

One man faces multiple charges after he allegedly stabbed his mother and himself.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Drew David, on the afternoon of Jan. 28, deputies were dispatched to 2395 Jacquelyn Dr. in Abbeville in reference to a Robert Curtis Hargrave Jr., 33, possibly wanting to do harm to his parents.
Narcotics Task Force agents were in the immediate area and responded to the call, while deputies were in route. Agents knocked on the door announcing their presence and a white male subject, later identified as Robert Hargrave Jr., came to the door. Agents noticed that Hargrave had a knife, blood on his clothing and was stabbing himself in the chest. Agents advised Hargrave to drop the knife as they entered the residence.
Hargrave was subdued and attended to as agents located Hargrave’s mother within the house. Once locating her, agents noticed that she had been stabbed as well. Medical aid was given to her at that time while waiting for Acadian Ambulance and Paramedics to arrive.
Hargrave’s mother was transported to the hospital for treatment of wounds that were deemed non-life threatening. Robert Hargrave Jr. was also taken to the hospital where he was being treated and upon release will be charged with 2 counts of Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault, False imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, second degree battery and Aggravated Second Degree Battery.

Simon’s celebrate 65 years

Rex and Jane Simon celebrate 65 years of marriage on January 29, 2020. The couple recently celebrated this milestone Anniversary at a luncheon with their five children and their spouses. At that luncheon, they shared stories about how they first met and their early years together. In their six and a half decades of marriage, Rex and Jane have also been blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The couple resides in the Maurice area.

Scott J. Detraz Jr.

Scott J. Detraz Jr. was born to Dana Young and Scott Detraz Sr. on August 23, 1988 in Abbeville, La.
He passed on January 25, 2020 at his home in Abbeville, peacefully in his sleep. He helped others throughout his life and in death he will continue to help others by donating his body to science.

Caesar J. “Joe” Touchet, Jr.

ERATH – Funeral Services for Mr. Caesar J. “Joe” Touchet, Jr.,68, will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at David Funeral Chapel of Erath. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 10:00AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 12:00PM.
A native and resident of Erath, Mr. Caesar died at 9:47AM on Friday, January 24, 2020 in Lafayette. Mr. Joe was a caring person always willing to help someone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the time he spent living at Holley Beach. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed carpentry, drawing, painting, sewing, embroidering, crocheting, and doing crafts. He was also a car enthusiast, especially antique cars.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Michelle Broussard Touchet of Erath; two sons, Robert Kyle Smith of Baton Rouge and Caesar J. Touchet, III and his fiancée Hali Broussard of Erath; two daughters, Anjelique Morvant of Abbeville and Elizabeth Bennitte Touchet and her partner Etienne Picard of Erath; a brother, Lovelace John Touchet and his wife Darlene; two sisters, Emma Lee Marie Touchet Floris and her husband Alwin, and Josie Jane Touchet Forrester; a sister in law, Berbera Touchet; and three grandchildren, Nevaeh Smith, Alix Stone Touchet, and Gage Cole Stelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caesar J. Touchet, Sr. and Daltie Mae Omen Touchet; and two brothers, Clarence “Tony” Joseph Touchet and Willis Paul Touchet.

Services set for Kalix James Broussard

August 15, 2001
~ January 27, 2020

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Kalix James Broussard, 18, who died Monday, January 27, 2020 due to the result of an automobile accident. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Donald Bernard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Justin LeBouef, Collin Mier, Kayl Bengtson, Jace Lewis, Hunter Griffin and Matthew Judice.
Kalix was a 2019 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School.
He is survived by his father, Bubba Broussard; step mother, Heather Touchet; mother, Kora LeBouef; girlfriend, Sadie Boudreaux; brother, Kavan Broussard and his fiancé Jay Peters; sister, Kealy Broussard; grandparents, Sheron Landry, Bert Broussard, and Raymond and Connie LeBouef; step grandparents, Trena Touchet and Neil Dugas; aunts and uncles, Jeremy and Jenny Broussard, Hattie LeBouef and Jamie d'Augereau, Spencer LeBouef and Laila Briolo, Amelia LeBouef and Justin LeBouef; step uncle and aunt, Broc and Raelyn Touchet; nieces and nephews, Kash Peters, JaZaiden Peters and Rhilyan Peters; cousins, Bailey Broussard, Carter Broussard, Chloe d'Augereau, Shae LeBouef, Ellen LeBouef, and Luke Myers; godfather, Luke Mayeux; and godmother, Errin Faulk.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, January 31, 2020 from 8:00 AM until 1:45 PM when the procession will depart for the church.
